So as of right now I am planning on wearing a blue anklet as my "something blue." Here are two pictures of the anklet I am planning on wearing:Here is the description of the anklet:
"The soft of powder blue and bold royal blue shades along with deep sky blue aurora borealis fired Czech crystal are securely wire wrapped in silver. Round silver beads cap each of the pearls and crystals along with a beautifully detailed pale blue ab Czech fired crystal veined leaf drop and finished with spring ring closure. You can adjust the size using the spring ring closure for a custom fit leaving the leaf to dangle more or less. "
The reason why I am really excited about this anklet is because of the Czech beads. Danny and my favorite European city is Prague, in the Czech Republic. We went there this summer and it was an amazing experience that we shared. We are both dying to go back! I thought having the Czech crystals in my anklet would be a fun personal touch.
What do you think? Do you like it? What was your something blue?

My 'Something Blue'
My Garter!
by Stephanie
I just bought my garter online at Etsy. Here is a picture of it:
I love how colorful it is! A lot of people have blue garters to satisfy the "something blue" tradition, but I am going to have something else for my blue item so I thought it would be fun to have a colorful garter. I like that the lady makes one "keepsake" garter, and a "toss" garter. That way Danny still gets to take off a garter and throw it to all the guys, but I get one to keep.
Do you like it? What do you think?

Wedding Cake
by Stephanie
We picked our wedding cake flavors and design a while ago and I just realized that I never wrote about it! Well, after trying many amazing cakes we decided on the following flavors:
Chocolate Hazelnut
A creamy milk chocolate infused with hazelnuts made into
a creamy mousse. Then we add more toasted hazelnuts and
layered it between our chocolate buttermilk cake
Citrus with Lemon Curd
Zesty lemon butter cake layered with mascarpone cream
and your choice of our tangy lemon or lime curd
Citrus with Lime Curd and Raspberries
Same as the Citrus and Lemon Curd cake, but with lime curd and fresh raspberries
Rustic Pear
A spice cake made with our own pear butter and bits of
dark chocolate layered with a spiced rum mascarpone cream
We will have a tiered wedding cake, and then some extra cupcakes on the side to make sure there is enough cake for everyone. Here is a picture of what we want our cake to look like:
The flowers will be similar to the ones we have in the bouquets, and the center pieces. I love the spatulaed (is that a word???) look of the frosting. I think it looks a lot more natural (and edible!) than fondant. You cant do quite as intricate designs with butter cream as you can with fondant, but we both wanted an elegant and simple cake so it works out great. I love the look of fresh flowers on a cake!
What do you think of the flavors and the design?

Gift Registry
by Stephanie
Click on the pictures below to go to each store's registry directory. You can find our directory by typing in either Stephanie Bosse, or Daniel Farmer. Below each logo is a brief (non-inclusive) summary of the types of items that can be found at each location. Please do not feel obligated to stick to the registry!
William Sonoma: Most of the main kitchen wares and appliances
Bed Bath and Beyond: China, stemware, towels, miscellaneous kitchen wares.
Crate and Barrel: Bedding, miscellaneous kitchen wares.
Target: Some "fun" items (games) and miscellaneous housewares
We hope this give people an idea of the types and styles of things Danny and I gravitate towards.

Hotel Accommodations
by Stephanie
There are two Hotels near where we are getting married that are set up for a discounted rate.
1) Holiday Inn Express
204 West Marine Drive
Astoria, Oregon 97103
phone: 503-325-6222
This hotel is the closest to the wedding, however, they do not officially reserve any rooms. If you mention you are attending the Bosse/Farmer Wedding you will get a discount as long as they have rooms available.
One thing to be aware of is that if you call the "central booking agency" instead of the hotel directly, they can not give you the "wedding" discount. However, you can use your AAA discount which will give you the same rate as the "wedding" discount. So it doesn't matter if you call the hotel directly or the central agency because you will end up with the same discount. They do it this way so that people can get the AAA discount even if they do not have a AAA membership. The central booking agency just doesn't have access to the list of "wedding" discount names. This caused someone some confusion when booking their hotel rooms so I thought I would clarify for everyone else.
2) Holiday Inn Express
34 North Holiday Drive
Seaside, Oregon 97138
503-717-8000-phone
We have 30 rooms blocked until May 15th 2009. There are 5 King rooms and 25 Double Queen rooms. If you mention you are with Block BOS you will get a discount on your room. These rooms in Seaside will be held for reservations exclusively for our wedding guests until May 15th, 2009 or until all 30 rooms are rented, whichever is first. There is also a 96 hour cancellation policy for these rooms
People may also reserve other hotels on their own if they wish.
Anywhere from Cannon Beach, Oregon to Astoria, Oregon is within reasonable driving distance from Warrenton.(Cannon Beach is 17 miles away and Astoria is about 5 miles away. Seaside is about 12 miles away.)
Cannon Beach is the most "touristy" town. They have a very cute downtown, with lots of little shops and art galleries. If you are planning to stay for more than a day or two this would probably be the city to stay in if you do not mind the drive up to the wedding. My grandparents and aunt live in Cannon Beach, and this is where I spent my summers growing up. Later I will write a post with some fun things to do in Cannon Beach for those of you who are able to spend a couple of days up in Oregon.
Seaside is the "big" city out of the bunch. They have a Safeway, drug stores, more hotel options, etc. It is not as quaint as Cannon Beach but it is few miles closer to the wedding.
Astoria is the closest city. It is technically the largest of all three towns, but there is not a lot to do in Astoria. There is a small downtown area and you can walk up and down the shipping docks which is fun. There is also a really neat movie theater where you can get pizza and a beer while you watch your movie. I will find the name of it when I write a post about things to do on the coast.Hope this helps!

My bouquet
by Stephanie
After searching for many hours through tons of pictures of hand bouquets for the wedding I finally decided what I want mine to look like! Here is a picture of what I want my hand bouquet to look like for the wedding (minus the one random fern leaf):I am thinking of maybe adding a tiny bit of yellow, some greens, and maybe changing the tiny orange roses to orange tulips. I like the idea of maybe adding some tulips because the first country in Europe that Danny and went to together was Amsterdam, and they are famous for their tulips. Other than those small little changes (that I might not even end up making) I think this is it!
Occasionally I would find a bouquet that I thought was really neat, but after about a week or so I would change my mind again. There are lots of designs that I might like for a week or two, but this is the one bouquet that I LOVE every time I look at it. I think it is a good sign that I found one that I keep going back to. That is how it was with my wedding dress too. I tried on tons but kept going back to the second one I tried on. So I think I will stick with this bouquet.
Our idea for the bridesmaid's bouquets and the men's boutonnieres is to have the bridesmaids have small bouquets very similar to mine except they wont have any of the orange flowers. The groomsmen and Danny will have purple boutonnieres with some of the same flowers from the bridal bouquet, but Danny will also have an orange flower in his. That way the flowers are similar enough, but Danny and me will stand out with the bright pop of orange.
What do you think? Do you like it? what about the idea of Danny and me having orange flowers while the bridal party just has the shades of purple?

Because you know people cry at weddings!
by Stephanie
I was reading a wedding blog post about a woman who bought a ton of vintage handkerchiefs on eBay and then had her save the date info printed on each handkerchief. Now, I don't really like the idea of using them as save the dates, especially since the ones she used were real vintage ones...meaning used, torn, stained etc. I know some people think that is a really neat look, but I just can't get over the fact that it is a *used* handkerchief! However, I thought that maybe I could find some neat NEW handkerchiefs on eBay.
I managed to find some NEW replicas of vintage floral handkerchiefs. They ended up being really cheap, even with shipping! I love the idea of handing one out with the programs before the ceremony. I like that they aren't all the same. I think the mix of colors and patterns will look beautiful.
What do you think? Do you think that is a neat idea?

Candles
by Stephanie
Our wedding reception is going to be outside. Which means that Danny and I both thought that having supre fancy table decorations would seem out of place. We both wanted a more "country" feel to the reception.

Busy, busy, busy...
by Stephanie
So we obviously haven't had a chance to post anything for a while. We have both been really busy lately with non-wedding related things. I have been swamped with school, and Danny just started coaching JV volleyball so he has been working until 10:30pm every night.
Nothing too exciting has been going on with the wedding projects. I am STILL making wedding invitations...the pile seems to be never ending! They look totally amazing, and unique and beautiful when finished, but it is a pretty labor intensive process. Thank God for Xyron machines and TV shows on DVD! At some point I will take some pictures of the process so people can see what I have been working on for the last couple weeks.
Well, that is about all I can think of for right now. Once the invitations are done the other wedding craft projects will go a lot faster so there will be more frequent posts for those of you who are trying to avoid work or homework :-)
